First of all, I would like to say that I am not a "typical" chef.

 

My parents run their own restaurant and I was literally born in the kitchen.

 

It was the only place where I could be them with. After my father died in 1992 (I was 8), my mum decided to close the activity. I never ever thought of working in a restaurant or reopen it again.

But, like always… you never know what will happen next in life. So, one day, my husband said to me that we should reopen the family restaurant, and that my mum would help, but this did not happen.

That´s why I am here, writing this right now. I can say, I started cooking the day we opened our restaurant, exactly the 17th July 2011. As you can imagine my Mum was the person who influenced me the most and I always take inspiration from life and from all the small things that happen to us daily.

 

My philosophy is very simple… just to make people feel comfortable and happy.

 

In our restaurant we serve only fish and seafood and I like to prepare it in so many ways, from raw to cooked, but you´ll never find a classical taste here... you´ll always be surprised. I must say, I like spices soooo much.

 

My favourite tool? Knife. A well sharpened knife. I like to prepare food with love for the person who is going to eat it. My advice to young chefs is that working hard is not enough, if there´s no passion in their work, nothing will happen. They have to love their own style and philosophy. No copying is needed, believe me. Just be yourself… feel free to be yourself and people will recognize it and appreciate it. When hiring someone I just have to see what I saw in myself the day I started this journey.

 

We don´t have a fixed menu and we do not have à la carte, so when someone comes in we explain our philosophy and rarely does anyone not accept it. People just believe us, they come in, relax and enjoy.

 

I realized that I cook for people to give them certain kinds of emotions and to make them feel good… that´s my ambition in life: to make people happy.
